Our History
A Legacy of Faith, Learning, and Service
Rooted in faith since 1922, St. Katherine of Siena School has been a place of learning, service, and community for generations of students in Northeast Philadelphia.
St. Katherine of Siena Parish was established on June 19, 1922 by the Archdiocese of Philadelphia to serve the growing population of Northeast Philadelphia.
The school was established when the Sisters of the Sacred Heart took students into Eden Hall.
On January 5, 1941, Cardinal Dougherty laid the cornerstone of the first school building, a two-story structure on Convent Lane.
In September 1961, the current school building opened, and for the first time all students attended school on parish property.
In September 1970, the addition of a second floor to the school was completed.
The school now features transportable laptops, smartboards in every classroom, wireless internet, a computer lab, and a growing CYO program with seven sports.
